Dana Hanchin, President & CEO of HDC MidAtlantic, announced Chad Martin will serve as the organization’s new Director of Strategic Partnerships and Community Relations.
“Chad will be a great asset as we build out our new Community Relations team, which will elevate HDC’s profile, leverage new resources and partnerships and advocate for more equitable housing policies and practices,” Hanchin said. “I am impressed with Chad’s passion for building strong teams that support and empower members to invest themselves fully and his deep commitment to the common good and inclusive leadership.”
As Director, Martin will oversee communications and public relations strategy, development of grant and individual donor resources, and creation of HDC Midatlantic’s advocacy program.
Martin brings nearly two decades of nonprofit management and board leadership to his role at HDC. He has served startup and established organizations at the board level, including currently serving on the Board of Trustees of Lancaster Theological Seminary. He has written for numerous professional and lay publications on topics ranging from religion to art to building preservation, and has been a regular columnist for Lancaster Newspapers.
Prior to joining HDC, Martin worked as Director of the National Fund for Partners for Sacred Places in Philadelphia, overseeing a $29 million capital grant-making and technical assistance program in partnership with the National Trust for Historic Preservation. He has also served as a pastor at Community Mennonite Church of Lancaster.
Martin holds a Master of Arts degree from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Goshen College. He is a graduate of Leadership Lancaster and is completing an Executive Certificate in Religious Fundraising. He currently lives in southeast Lancaster City with his wife and children.

Wendy Smith serves as the Vice President of Property Management, responsible for the overall strategic direction for HDC’s management portfolio and the organization’s largest staff team. Previously, Wendy served as Asset and Operations Manager for a leading real estate firm based in New York City which owned over 11,000 affordable homes. Since 2008, Wendy has held roles in regional level operations for commercial and for-profit housing agencies. Wendy holds a degree in International Studies.
